WHO IS ROWAN BERKOWITZ

Some might say I am obsessed with the human spine, and they would not be wrong. My passion to gain insights and learn more about spinal abnormalities drove me to consistently push the boundaries and to keep asking “why”?

The fact that some spines are in a normal configuration is in itself a miracle. There are so many things that can go wrong with the spine, most of which have a known cause, but for me the most fascinating is the idiopathic type – a deformity for which there is no known cause.

I know firsthand, that although we cannot always change or cure a disease or deformity, we can improve quality of life.

A NEW AGE OF TECHNOLOGY

3D SCANNING
& BRACING

We use state-of-the-art equipment like 3D scanning that is the latest in imaging and impression technology. It provides real-time images of the exact contours and profiles of the body. It is quick and does not use radiation or any harmful energy beams.

The data gathered from the scan is used to custom design a brace, which:

Comfortable bracing

Gone are the days where back braces to correct spinal deformities were uncomfortable, cumbersome, and embarrassing to wear. Nowadays the braces available are technologically advanced and comfortable to wear and tailored specifically to each patient’s specific curve profile and body shape

Visualise the problem

The scan’s real-time image of the deformity which helps those making funding decisions to actually visualise the problem, without the patient being exposed. This helps greatly in avoiding reading long, confusing medical or technical terms that you and most health care funders are not necessarily medically qualified or knowledgeable about. Saving you a lot of time and frustration.

DETAILED
ANALYSIS

The software allows for a detailed analysis of the data, such as high-pressure areas, or a comparison of the affected part to the desired state.

SCANS ARE
STORED

Another advantage of 3D scanning is that the images are easily stored to monitor improvements or deterioration in the patient’s condition.

EASILY
SHARED

Scanned images can also be shared, upon consent, which is helpful when medical aid or insurance requires motivation for the device.

Client 9 - Scoliosis

This patient started treatment after late detection of #scoliosis (she is Risser stage 4 out of 5), and correction is rare in such cases. However, in this patient's case, the out-of-brace x-ray confirms that the curve did not get worse and has corrected roughly 50% of what it was before the brace treatment commenced.
